With more than 2000 eligible members, the MBAAA supports members and the School in various ways: by creating valuable business links, presenting professional development seminars and guest speaker forums and putting members in touch with each other, the School and the business community.
In 2002 the MBAAA introduced an annual prize for the best student in the MBA course: Fundamentals of Leadership.

The MBAAA builds links between the business community and its members by:
- Matching organisational projects and students
- Hosting business lunches
- Organising events and corporate sponsorship
- Helping organisations identify suitable students and graduates for jobs
- Informing the business community of the Business School's programs
- Business-focused foundation activities
- Supporting teams participating in business competitions and awards including "e-challenge" and the Enterprise Workshop
- Matching organisational issues with the research activities of students
