Mentor Program

The Business School runs a Mentoring Program for first-year students. The program provides networking, social events and help in the transition to university studies. We strongly encourage you to consider joining the program.

Support Programs

UniSteps (University Student Transition Experience Program) will help you to:

  • get to know your faculty and who can help you
  • step up your skills with workshops (everything from time management to balancing your life with study)
  • get one step ahead with information straight from fellow students
  • find out how the Careers Service can help you think about your future
  • make friends and enjoy your uni days with fun events throughout the semester.

If you register for SmoothStart you will:

  • be supported by SmoothStart staff and mentors in Semester 1, 2009
  • have your own Peer Mentor, an experienced University of Adelaide student who can help you and be your guide to University Life.
  • meet other first year students in a fun and relaxed way.
  • get to know the campus and the services University has to offer.
  • receive information about how to improve your study skills, find out some of the differences between University and high school styles of study and learn where to get help with your academic work.
  • be invited to SmoothStart social activities throughout the Semester (can you smell the sausages and pizza already?!)

Student Associations

The Adelaide Business Students' Association (ABSS) is a student run and established association, which exists to provide all the non-academic splendours of studying Commerce, Finance and Economics at the University of Adelaide. It runs and manages many events, both social and professional, as well as providing various valuable services, including an online book sale and advisory on future careers in Commerce. Come down to the ABSS Tent during O'Week on the Barr Smith Lawns, grab your ABSS Membership Card and sign up for the First Year Camp.

AIESEC, the world's largest student organisation, is the international platform for young people to discover and develop their potential so as to have a positive impact on society. In addition to providing over 5,000 leadership positions and delivering over 350 conferences, AIESEC also runs an exchange program that enables over 3,500 students and recent graduates the opportunity to live and work in another country.
